Dubai Traffic Rules Every Luxury Car Renter Should Know

Dubai has excellent roads, but traffic rules are strictly enforced — especially relevant when you are in a high-performance luxury car rental. A short briefing keeps your Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Porsche hire smooth and fine-free.

Speed limits

• Urban roads: commonly 60–80 km/h.
• Sheikh Zayed Road: often 100–120 km/h depending on section.
• Speed cameras are widespread — fines are automatic.
• Extreme speeding can lead to vehicle impoundment.

Salik toll gates

Dubai’s electronic toll system is called Salik. Rental cars usually include a pre-installed tag. Gate crossings are billed after the rental (commonly AED 4 per crossing). There are no cash booths — the tag reads automatically.

Parking

Hotels and malls often offer valet — the easiest option for low supercars. Public parking uses RTA mParking or pay machines. Avoid disabled bays, fire lanes, and no-parking zones; towing is expensive.

Zero-tolerance policies

• Drink-driving: any alcohol in your system can be an offence.
• Phone use while driving carries heavy fines.
• Tailgating and reckless driving are actively penalised.
• Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers.
